The IUTOP, second phase, offers courses to improve the teachers’ knowledge, skills and dispositions. The courses aim to help the participants to provided their students with meaningful learning experiences and outcomes. Hence, the course enables the participants to lead reflective practices on what constitutes effective and successful teaching.
Acquire awareness of the links between active pedagogic strategies and improved children’s learning; enhance their pedagogical skills in using active pedagogic strategies, to promote meaningful interaction between learners and the topic/mathematics; and learners and teachers; refresh and improve conceptual understanding of the school mathematics.
Reiterate the adequacy and utility of cooperative learning; tabulate numerous handy and practical group activities applicable within limited resources; synthesize communicative learning with contemporary methods in educational institutions.
Explore the ways of incorporating technology to develop students’ historical reasoning; analyse the strategies of maximizing students’ participation in their learning.
Explore ways to establish constructive alignment between assessment, teaching and learning; design alternative assessment tasks to facilitate for measuring students’ learning outcomes; analyze and construct examples of effective feedback for students.
Identify students’ conceptual problems; adequately address students’ conceptual errors; enhance students’ scientific reasoning and investigation skills.
Explore ways to provide all students with equal learning opportunities; acquire skills to activate and maximize students’ participation in their learning; review the ways of nurturing equity in the classroom.
